Catching up with Katie-boo
Kate has been a very joyful addition to our family. She was really an easy baby from the get-go. Aside from the health problems (that will hopefully be fixed soon) she really couldn't be any easier going. At her last Drs. appointment she was 26.25" and 14 lbs. Her hair is looking like it will be the same color as Greta's - a light brown and her eyes have stayed a very pretty blue. Greta's eyes started blue but went to a dark greyish blue in a few months and have now settled firmly on hazel. I'm hopeful Kate will keep her blue eyes that she got from her Daddy.
She mastered rolling over from back to tummy very early and promptly hated being on her tummy so it took her a while to learn how to go from tummy to back. She's pretty content most of the time but has yet to learn to sit up and doesn't really like her bumbo for extended periods of time. We think it's likely due to a hernia she has and hopefully once the surgery fixes this she'll be more comfortable sitting.
Kate is called by quite a few names. Occasionally Greta will call her Katherine pronounced Kaf-run. She is frequently called Kate, Katie-boo, Kay-boo, Katie-boo-bunny, and Buns. She loves it when I sing to her, particularly when I put her name in the song. Kate has the best smiles and her whole face lights up. When she is happy you know it because it shines out of her face, including her eyes. Graham and I just love it when she delights us with those grins.
Kate really loves her big sister and generally is quite agreeable to just about anything Greta wants to do to her. Occasionally she gets a little rough and Kate lets her know that she is displeased but for the most part they are great pals. Kate is also very fond of Annie and loves to pet her. Unfortunately her pets often turn into grabs of Annie's fur and skin but Annie is a very patient dog and takes it all in stride.
Kate now has her bottom two middle teeth and we think she might be getting more. Greta was a big drooler when getting teeth but Kate never has been so other than some mild fussiness there's really no indication Kate is getting teeth until they come in...unless you are a dentist since Jack's dad predicted Kate was getting teeth and sure enough they were in the next week.
When Kate does cry boy can she milk out the tears. I don't really remember Greta tearing up a lot when she cried as a baby but Kate has been able to cry huge alligator tears from the get-go. I think it's a ploy to get attention! ;-)
