Very nice, Kelley. Did you have something else on the window previously? (Surely) to block out sun? I love, love, love toile, but I don't have a square inch of toile fabric in my house (yet).
Prior to me making this we had up blinds that had come with the house. They were cheapo and had started to crack so I was extra motivate to get something up there. I finished the roman shade several months ago and have just gotten around to doing the valance. I really like the toile on this valance because it's not just one color.
Beth, Roman shades are super easy to make. Just two large pieces of fabric (decorator & lining) and another small piece at the bottom of lining. I chose to use blackout lining to make the shade thicker but you can use regular drapery lining as well. The Singer Sewing for the Home book is an excellent resource. About the only part of making roman shades I don't like is sewing on the rings. You can buy ring tape which is easier but you have long stitching lines down the front of the shade and depending on where the shade is going and what your fabric looks like that might not be attractive. Good luck!

Really nice!
How did you make the Roman Shade? The boys broke our cheap blinds and I'd like to replace them with something nice that might stand up to them.

Do you have a dowel or anything like that accross the bottom to keep a crisp line? Other than that sounds really easy and quick. Thank you!
There is a small brass rod in a rod pocket about 2 or 3 inches from the bottom. This keeps the shade from nice and weighted.
Nice!!!!!!!!!
I am going to try to make some of those.
Beth asked all of the questions I would have asked and you answered them!:)
