I am very fair skinned and I avoid burning at all costs. I've tried sunless tanners in the past and results are so-so. I've seen several recomendations for the new gradual tanning lotions so I am trying that out. Supposedly the color is much more subtle and natural looking. I tried it for the first time last night. I'll keep you girls updated in case there are those of you out there that don't want stark white legs but also don't want skin cancer. As a bonus my legs were nice and soft this morning!
Oh, I'm trying Jergens Natural Glow. If anyone else has tried this or similar products I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I like the Aveeno one. And I REALLY like Oil of Olay's tinted moisturizer for your face. I can't remember the name right now, but I use it all the time. It gives me a bit of a glow without looking obvious, and I use it instead of foundation(actually, instead of anything. I don't really wear make-up.) Anyway. I really like it, and I am REALLY white too.
I tried one in college and let's just say that I had orange streaky legs and orange hands. Always remember to wash your hands when applying the tanning stuff because it affects your whiter palm skin more than other more tan portions.
I too have tried the regular sunless tanners in college and so far the Jergen's stuff is much different. It's very easy to apply - just like putting lotion on and I haven't had any steaky issues. I can definitely see color developing but it is much more subtle so even if I did miss a spot you really can't tell. My only complaint thus far is the smell - it's a bit stronger than I would like.
Yes - I have tried those lotion tanners and the smell always got me. I felt like I smelled bad...and wondered if everyone else could smell me too!!!
Keep us posted!
Hmm, I decided to do the Jergens thing again. I had forgotten how they smelled. It did work pretty nicely, I thought. Just be carefully on boney prominences like ankles- because my would get a little orange if I didn't take the time to really smooth it out there. :-)
Hey, you inspired me to look back into them. There's nothing like looking better at the BEGINNING of bathing suit season. And, since I'm going to be in a bathing suit way more this summer due to Jen's pool and her parent's pool. I am using Aveeno and it's good. I have noticed it streaking on my feet, and the ankles are tricky. The smell is just fine. I'm using one that is a lotion, not ONLY meant for tanning -- more of a combo deal.
I think I'm gonna try the Aveeno one next. The Jergens one works really well (except for the dreaded ankle area - but I think that's all creams) but the smell is almost too much. I've used other Aveeno products in the past and they usually have a light scent so hopefully their sunless tanner/lotion combos will as well. I've been trying to do my legs regularly (like every other day) to prep them for the pool season and for Graham's sisters wedding tomorrow. One thing I did notice is when I exfoliate or shave the color really comes off - which makes sense as it is just bound to the dead skin cells. It's just funny to see how much of a color difference there was.
