The money shot

We went for our 20th week ultrasound today. Here's baby's profile:

And the one that everyone wants to see
The 3 lines are hard to see here but were VERY clear at the appointment. Our baby is very modest and had her legs completely together almost the entire time. The ultrasound tech waited quite patiently to see if she would "open up".

A few items of note:
At this time I have partial placenta previa. Neither the tech nor the doctor seemed that concerned - just something to keep an eye on. Chances are it will move up and all will be normal.

Baby's kidneys were slightly dilated. The U/S tech said this is abnormal but not necessarily cause for concern at this point. It will probably correct itself as the baby grows. As a precaution I will have a Level 2 U/S with the High Risk OB in 1 month.

I finally gained a pound! The doctor mentioned the lack of weight gain but didn't seem like it was a huge deal - just said to eat regular meals (which I have been doing). He said the baby was growing normally (10 oz today) so my lack of weight gain isn't a big deal right now.

I'm also measuring a bit ahead of schedule so my date is 9/8 which jives with what I think the date should be.

I see they spelled your name correctly this time. :-)

Yep - the tech actually asked me this time.

Well congratulations to you both! It seems that nearly all the women I know are doing their part to populate the world with more young ladies. =)
About placenta previa, I had it this time around but at my check-up last week it had moved. Yay!!! No more "restrictions" ;)
Will you share the names you guys are tossing around, or will it be a secret until she arrives?

Can I ask what kind of restrictions you were under? The doctor didn't say anything about modifying my behavior but from what I know about it if it's still there at my next appt I may have modified bed rest.

We're keeping the names pretty much to ourselves - to be honest we haven't really talked about it that much. The only name we've really discussed is Lucy and that is definitely not set in stone - just one both of us agree on. We'd really like at least one of the names to be a family name but our families are making that really hard. Most of the grandmother and great grandmothers names have a very "dated" feel to them. We've made jokes about naming her after both both our paternal grandmothers: Ruby Jewel

I should clarify that when I say grandmother and great grandmother I mean ours not hers. :-)

Congrats! I had the same thing (partial placenta previa) with Emily and it turned out to be nothing. I didn't have any restrictions either.

Girls are Very Fun!

Congrats Kelley! It's wonderful having a little girl! They are precious & sweet & too cute to dress up -- it'll burn a hole in your pocket, but it's so worth it!

I'm hoping it will burn a hole in the grandmother's pockets! :-) My mom's already planning on purchasing a smocking machine and his mom is all excited to start buying items - once his sister's wedding is over mid-may.

Hey - maybe our moms can get together for some "smocking parties"!! I love those types of dresses for little girls.
