Project 52 - Week 6

An Update on Kate

Kate's surgery on the 31st was a success. She lost very little blood and came through well with a pretty easy recovery. She had some post operative pain the evening of the surgery and the next day but by the third day she was just needing a bit of tylenol. Graham and I came through pretty well too except for needing an adjustment at the chiropractor after sleeping on hospital chairbeds and recliners for 3 nights.

Kate seems so much more comfortable and happy following the surgery. It has definitely improved her quality of life. She's eating a lot more and has gained a pound since surgery. We've found she prefers food that is well seasoned and not too pureed so we are skipping most traditional baby purees and going more for what we eat but in a form she can manage.

Kate's next surgery is scheduled for February 14th at 9 am. The surgery should last about 2 to 2.5 hours. She'll once again have a 2 to 3 day hospital stay. We would ask for you to continue to keep us in your prayers. Once again I have a list - pretty similar to last time.
  1. For Kate's surgeon & the nurses who care for her - that their hands and minds would be guided by God.
  2. For Graham and I to not be anxious before and during Kate's procedure and as we care for her post operatively.
  3. For Kate to handle the surgery well (anesthesia, blood loss, recovery) and that we would keep her pain level manageable. Also that she would be able to rest well in the hospital. This was difficult last time.
  4. For Greta as she is once again away from us for a few days.
