Stirring it up

I created quite the debate with my status on face book yesterday so I'm going to post the same thing here and see what comes of it. I'd really like to know your thoughts, even if they don't coincide with mine.

"Kelley will not be voting for McCain no matter who his running mate is."

Okay, let me have it!

I say good for you. I won't be voting for him either. Of course, there aren't many republicans for whom I would vote so I'm probably not much help.

Hey... you are entitled to your own opinion, and I must say probably the wiser person in this case. However, I would probably vote for Hillary (sorry to shock some of you guys!!!) if it meant that Obama wouldn't win. Well... maybe not. To put it concisely,... there are no viable candidates running this year. It is as if you are asked to choose between the rotten apple or the rotten banana. OK... before I go too far... :)I am sick of this democracy and its continual jargon, claiming to be the United States of America plus every other illegal who wants a better residence. (Why not give our tax dollars to people who will use them better than our government can??? Did I say I would quit a while back.... :)-- Did I mention that taxes are not even constitutional!?!

One comment, we are a republic not a democracy.

So would you vote for a third party candidate even though they wouldn't win?

I would (and have) voted for a third party candidate, well aware that they would not win.

Yes... sorry I let that lisp into my thoughts... unawares. Yes, I do know that it is supposed to be a republic. :) Thanks for the correction.

Also, I would vote for 3rd party.

Katie, I figured you knew that but wanted to make sure. It irks me to know end to hear people call us a democracy, especially elected officials. If you're going to be elected to an office you should at least know what the country was founded on!

Wow, I was expecting some debate here but it seems that most of my friends are like minded. Cool!

I would and have as well, but then- you already knew that. :)

I think it's so funny that all of you girls grew up around each other, and now your grown up values of mothering/parenting/politics & even your interests are remarkably parallel.

So, what types of responses did you get on facebook? Were people outraged because they thought you were going to vote for Obama or because they just couldn't believe you would stray from the old evangelical mainstay -- the Republican Party.

Personally, both candidates give me the heebie jeebies & I can't decide whether I'm trying to sift between the lesser of two evils or whether I shall choose the least of three evils. Are there any wonderful national candidates for President that you can get behind?

Is anybody just not GOING to vote?

I agree with y'all, personally I think voting for McCain just puts a Democrat in the White House anyways...

For an amusing/semi-serious note, go look for Bill Cosby running for president... his list of ideals are fairly on and funny. I'd almost write him in just to make a stand. I'm not sure I'll even vote this November, but also think voices of dissent are needed as well. Ah the mire of politics. :P
