Sew good weekend, part 1

This past weekend we (J&J, Graham, Greta, & I) were at my parents house in GA. Julie and I spent a good amount of the weekend using momma's sewing & monogramming machines and her serger. This post is about the Busy Book Julie made for her nephew for his 2nd birthday. An upcoming post will feature clothes Momma & I made for Greta.

Cover of the book. I designed the cover and then embroidered it with momma's snazzy machine.

I LOVE the busy book! I have been wanting to make one for Emily -- and now I have some ideas. Thanks!

so cute! My aunt had one that we borrowed for Lydia two summers ago and it was marvelous. Jen & I kept saying that we'd like to have one for our kids. Particularly good for keeping busy at church I would imagine. Actually, I think my aunt's book was called a quiet book.
So, did you use a pattern or did you compose all of the ideas for each page yourselves? How was it on difficulty level?? Really, really cute!

I'll let Julie chime in on these questions, Elizabeth. My contributions were only in the embroidery department. :-) I do know that she used a pattern for it.

The book is a Simplicity pattern....I would say it was moderately difficult. The pages weren't especially hard if you had some sewing experience although the pattern was not written especially well (we have found this to be true with several patterns we have recently purchased)...the most difficult part was actually assembling the book. It was a fun project and I am planning on making quite a few more.
